Tree of Life
Intarsia
The Tree of Life is a symbol found in many cultures and spiritual traditions, typically representing interconnectedness, growth, ancestry, and the cyclical nature of life—linking heaven, earth, and the underworld through its roots, trunk, and branches.
In Celtic culture, the Tree of Life (Crann Bethadh) continues to hold deep spiritual significance, particularly for those who (like me) practice nature-based spiritualities like Druidry. The Tree of Life symbolizes the connection between the earthly and the spiritual, the cycle of birth, death, and renewal, and the interdependence of all living things. My design for this tree includes a heart and two infinity symbols in the roots as well as two infinity symbols, and as this tree is a commission, it also has a cursive letter G intertwined in the heart.
The tree of life is made out of several hardwood species: blood wood (for the apples and the letter), poplar (for the leaves), walnut and hard maple for the frame and backer, and this specific tree uses Bolivian rosewood, zebra wood, mahogany, and red oak.
Tree of Life artworks without letters are for sale for $225, and as standard include walnut, red oak, cherry, maple, poplar, and blood wood. One or two letters can also be added for $35 each, making it a lovely and meaningful way to mark the important events of life, such as weddings, anniversaries, celebrations of life, or births.
