Catriona
I was born and grew up in Scotland, but I’ve lived abroad for 15 years and often feel homesick. Making art that reminds me of Scotland helps me feel connected to home, but also Highland cows are, frankly, just adorable! Catriona was also one of the first pieces I made after I started making intarsia, so has a very special place in my heart and she will be exhibited in the Mansfield CT Juried Art Show from March 15 - May 15 2024.
This piece was stack cut out of red oak and poplar boards, which allowed me to mix and match the individual pieces of her hair. Because of that, Catriona is actually one of a pair, with a mirror-twin sister who is looking for a home.
